Marquez Was Reminded That Dovizioso Could Fail Like Lorenzo

JAKARTA Andrea Dovizioso warned Marc Marquez could have failed in Ducati the same as Jorge Lorenzo.

Marquez moved to Gresini Ducati for the 2024 MotoGP season. This decision was made because of Marquez's great desire to pursue the seventh world title in his career.

Dovizioso said that the decision could be wrong as reflecting on Jorge Lorenzo's experience of failing to meet his expectations in Ducati.

"In some ways, this is similar to what happened during Jorge Lorenzo's time. He arrived in Ducati I thought he would destroy everything, but in the end, it wasn't like that," said Dovizioso, quoted by Crash.

Lorenzo decided to move from Yamaha to Ducati in 2017. He came on a big contract and high expectations, but in the end he failed.

Lorenzo finished seventh in the standings at the end of the 2017 season) and ninth in the following season. Those were his two worst seasons at the time.

"We'll see. I'm very curious. [Other Ducati drivers must be] very excited, they want to beat Marc and make it difficult," said Dovizioso.

Marquez will compete with world champion Francesco Bagnaia in Ducati later. The Italian racer is the world champion in the last two seasons.

Marquez will hunt for his seventh title at the MotoGP level. One more title will make him level with this sporting legend, Valentino Rossi.
