Novak Djokovic Not Interested In Becoming Serbian President

Serbian international tennis player Novak Djokovic is not interested in running for Serbian President (Instagram/@djokernole).

JAKARTA The world number one Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he is not at all interested in running for Serbian President.

Djokovic is a popular figure in his country. Because of that, he won a big enough general election if he wanted to run and run for president.

CBS News journalist, Jon Wertheim, in an interview with Djokovic for the 60 Minute program also asked whether the tennis player had the desire to become the ruler with such a big opportunity.

"It's clear you can become the leader of this country one day. What kind of leader will you be?" asked Wertheim.

Djokovic immediately denied it after receiving the question. He said that he was not interested in becoming president because he was not suitable for him at all.

"You're making a kind of claim here that I'm not even aware of myself. I don't have any political inspiration right now. I don't feel like this is a world or an environment where I'm going to thrive," Djokovic argued.

Wertheim then said that Djokovic should have won the elections in Serbia much easier than the Australian Open Grand Slam which he has won 10 times because of the popularity he has.

"I know your popularity here. You will find it easier to get a voice in the ballot box here than when you won at the Australian Open," he said.

Hearing that statement, Djokovic laughed. He then said that he wanted to take advantage of his popularity for positive things only.

"However, I think my popularity in this country and in this region can be used for other things where I can help contribute to life and society," he said.

Djokovic is the men's singles with 24 Grand Slam titles or the most in history. Three of that number he won this year.
