Sentenced To Hold A Match Without Spectators, PSIS Semarang Files An Appeal

PSIS Semarang received a ban without spectators from home until Liga 1 2023/2024 finished (Instagram.com/@psisoficial).

JAKARTA - PSIS Semarang received a ban on holding matches without spectators until the end of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 season. PSIS then filed an appeal to the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis).

Komdis PSSI imposed a match without spectators on PSIS when they hosted until the end of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 season. PSIS also received additional sanctions in the form of a fine of Rp. 25 million.

The sentence was handed down by Komdis PSSI after riots between supporters when PSIS hosted PSS Sleman at the Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang, Sunday, December 3, 2023. PSSI invited PSIS to file an appeal.

"We have carried out all procedures related to the prohibition of holding matches without spectators until the end of the season," said PSIS Semarang CEO, AS Sukawijaya or Yoyok Sukawi, in a press release in Semarang on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, quoted from Antara.

Yoyok Sukawi as President of PSIS Semarang also confirmed that his party had sent an appeal letter. It is intended to ask for leniency of the sentence set.

"After we sent an appeal letter last week, finally the file to appeal for a complete appeal along with PSIS' memorandum of appeal."

"Tuesday morning we officially sent it to the Appeal Committee. This appeal asks for leniency for PSIS," said Yoyok Sukawi.

Furthermore, Yoyok, who was also hospitalized for being a victim of riots, asked for prayers from PSIS supporters so that the appeal could be granted by the PSSI Appeal Committee.

"My PSIS legal team and I continue to guard from the start in Jakarta. Please pray for my friends, hopefully our struggle will be given convenience and success," said Yoyok.

Regarding the prohibition of holding matches without spectators at home, it is considered enough to affect PSIS.

The reason is, until the end of this season PSIS still has six home games in Liga 1. They still have to fight Madura United, Dewa United, Persik Kediri, Persis Solo, RANS Nusantara, and Persikabo 1973.
