Liverpool Player Luis Diaz's Parents Become Kidnapped Victims In Colombia

JAKARTA - Liverpool winger Luis Diaz received bad news ahead of the match in the English Premier League against Nottingham Forest, Sunday, October 29 evening WIB. His parents who were in Colombia became victims of armed kidnappings. Colombian President Gustavo Petro paid attention to the kidnapping case of their national team player family.

The kidnapping of Luis Manuel Dmenz and Cilenis Marulanda, Diaz's parents, caused a Colombian commotion. The reason is, Diaz is a popular national footballer. Moreover, he plays at the elite European club, Liverpool.

The incident occurred when they were about to travel to Los Olivos, a city not far from where they live in Barrencas. Senior Diaz and his wife went to take the van and were about to refuel at the charging station in Barrencas.

While at the gas station, they were suddenly approached by two gunmen who immediately attacked them. News said there had been gunfire. But no one confirmed the incident.

The police themselves immediately moved quickly to hunt down the kidnappers on the instructions of the Colombian Police Chief, William Salamanca. Direct orders from the President made the Gercep officers carry out the hunt.

As a result, Cilenis, Diaz's mother, has been found. He also received protection from the police. The President said that Diaz's mother had been found and was safe. But his father is still missing and is in search.

"In an operation in Barrencas, Luis Diaz's mother was rescued. We are still looking for her father," said President Petro's explanation via Twitter. Meanwhile, Diala Wilches, Governor of La Guajira, in a statement, "I oppose and condemn the act of investigating Luis Diaz's parents that occurred in Barrencas. I ordered the authorities to make a rescue. To the kidnappers, we ask that parents be sent home safely."

Liverpool gave an official statement regarding the kidnapping case experienced by its player's family. The club hopes that the kidnapping can be revealed as soon as possible.

"Liverpool FC confirms the situation experienced by Luis Diaz's family in Colombia. We hope this can be resolved as soon as possible. For now, players are our priority," Liverpool said in a statement.
