Big Homework for the Indonesian National Team Ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup

JAKARTA – The coach of the Indonesian U-17 national team Bima Sakti revealed the homework he still has ahead of the 2023 U-17 World Cup next month.

The Indonesian U-17 national team has just finished their training camp in Germany. They started activities there on September 18.

Bima said his team still had several important records after Germany. Therefore, he hopes that these shortcomings will be corrected before the World Cup.

"Especially communication between players, then coordination when defending and attacking, we also communicate this to the players, we have also seen videos during trials, evaluations from there, hopefully it will be an improvement for us," said Bima as reported by the Indonesian Fooball Associtaion (PSSI) website.

While in Germany, Garuda Muda held trials with seven different clubs. Of that number, they won two, one drew, and four other matches ended in defeat.

The captain of the Indonesian U-17 national team, Iqbal Gwijangge, also admitted that he and his teammates still had homework to do before the World Cup started.

"We still have to improve our attacking, final third from the middle to the front, we also have to improve our attacking position," said Iqbal.

"So that we can play ball more effectively and efficiently when we face teams like Ecuador, Panama and Morocco [in Group A qualifying for the U-17 World Cup]," he added.

In the U-17 World Cup, Indonesia will start the first match in Group A against Ecuador on Friday, 10 November 2023 at 19.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.

Indonesia then played Panama on 13 November and Morocco on 16 November. The last two group stage matches were played at the same venue.
