JAKARTA The International Football Federation (FIFA) disbursed a grant of IDR 85.6 billion to help build a training center for the Indonesian national team in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said the value of the FIFA Forward grant was the largest fund the international football parent had ever given to a country.

"This is the first time FIFA has given this kind of grant to a country," said Erick Thohir at the groundbreaking ceremony by President Joko Widodo, Friday, September 22, 2023.

The big funds from FIFA will be used for the construction of the first phase which includes two fields, lodging venues for players and coaches as well as a dressing room.

This sports facility will be built on an area of 34.5 hectares. It is planned that there will be eight fields and various other supporting facilities integrated with the construction of IKN.

"I feel this is a symbol that the international community today FIFA believes that the development of the capital city of the archipelago is really real and this is certainly a positive thing," said the Minister of SOEs.

In addition to receiving FIFA assistance, the development also received government support. The government through the state budget (APBN) also disbursed Rp95 billion in funds.

The construction process is planned to take eight months, but will be accelerated to six months. The acceleration of the development target has also received approval from Jokowi.
