JAKARTA PSSI officially formed the Anti-Mafia Ball Task Force. The task force involves independent figures to make them more transparent.
PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said the formation of this Task Force was carried out on the orders of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when they met to discuss the U-17 World Cup.
"Specifically I was ordered to pay serious attention to the practice of match-fixing and the football mafia. In fact, asking for the involvement of independent figures to clearly transparency," said Erick as quoted by the PSSI website.
This task force involved former Chairman of the 2015-2019 Presidential Cup Steering Committee and PDIP Politician Maruarar Sirait, senior journalist Najwa Shihab, then football observer Akmal Marhali and accountant Ardan Adiperdana.
The collaboration between independent individuals and PSSI aims to encourage overall improvement of national football. The most crucial is the practice of fixing scores and matches.
Erick said the existence of this independent Task Force would have a real impact in realizing PSSI as a clear, clean, and open organization for various inputs and findings of all fraudulent practices.
"If you look at the individuals in this team, I guarantee that the task force can work optimally," said the SOE Minister.
"They can immediately report the findings to the President because the goal is to accelerate the cleaning of football. This task force will also collaborate with FIFA as part of transparency," he added.
