Newcastle Jets Borrow Indonesian Young Talent Syahrian Abimanyu From Johor Darul Takzim

JAKARTA - Australian League club Newcastle Jets have announced the loan of young Indonesian player Syahrian Abimanyu from Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and are expected to help the club emerge from a bad trend in the domestic league.

The announcement was made by Newcastle Jets management on Friday on their official website. Even though he was in the uniform of the club nicknamed The Jets, Syahrian had to wait until the transfer window opened to make his debut.

"Abi is a player who has good abilities and can pass the ball well. He is young but has the skills you want for a forward," said Newcastle Jets manager Joel Griffiths.

The news that Syahrian would be loaned out to the Australian club had actually surfaced when he was officially introduced by JDT. For JDT, Syahrian is a player who is projected for the long term so that loaning him first is a rational choice for his ability to develop.

While on the other hand, Griffiths seems to have been monitoring the 21-year-old player from long ago when he was still playing at Sriwijaya FC.

"You can direct his instincts well and his football instincts are incredible. He is a very unselfish player. Someone with a mentality who puts the team first, gives me confidence that he will go straight into our team," he said.

Currently Syahrian is already in Australia and is undergoing quarantine as a procedure established by the Kangaroo country. While the Newcastle Jets are currently slumping in the Australian League (A-League), they have only collected four points from the six matches that have been played.
