JAKARTA - A delegation of the Hamas militant group is scheduled to hold talks in Cairo with Egyptian officials and mediators on the implementation of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, the group said on Tuesday.

"The agenda of the delegation prioritizes the cessation of Israel's escalation of violations in the Gaza Strip and the crime of murder and premeditated murder every day," said Taher al-Nunu, political adviser to the leader of Hamas, launching Anadolu (30/6).

"Hamas will also seek assurances that Israel allows the full entry of Gaza's needs, including materials needed to repair hospitals, bakeries, and infrastructure, and implement the remaining provisions of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement," he added.

The talks in Cairo will continue discussions on a roadmap prepared by Nikolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Peace Council for Gaza, in cooperation with the mediator for the second phase of the agreement, he said.

"The roadmap includes the entry of the administrative committee and international protection forces, leading to Israel's full withdrawal from all areas of the Gaza Strip," Al-Nunu explained.

"We are serious about reaching an agreement that ends the suffering of our people, stops the crimes of the occupation, and makes progress in restoring the political rights of our people, especially freedom and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state," he said.

To note, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said the number of deaths due to Israeli violations of the ceasefire since it was imposed in October 2025 had risen to 1,053, with another 3,406 injured. Israel also continues to block the entry of agreed amounts of aid into the region.

The ministry also revealed that the total number of deaths due to the Israeli genocide has reached 73,066 and 173,514 others have been injured.

In addition to human casualties, the campaign caused widespread damage, destroying about 90 percent of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, while the United Nations estimates the cost of reconstruction needed to reach about $70 billion.
