The 2023 U-17 World Cup Draw Not In Jakarta But At The FIFA Office, Save The Date!

JAKARTA - The location for the 2023 U-17 World Cup draw will shift from the initial location in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event will be held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on September 15.

This is as stated by the Chairman of the PSSI National Team (BTN), Sumardji. Met at Senayan, Thursday, August 31 evening WIB, Sumardji provided the latest information about the national team's agenda in the near future, including the planned draw.

"Yes, that's right, it (the 2023 U-17 Cup draw agency) will be in Zurich, Switzerland will be. Not in Indonesia," said Sumardji.

Sumardji's statement meant breaking the information previously conveyed by the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, who reported that the lottery was held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

"Later, maybe the 2023 U-17 World Cup draw will be held in August. The draw will be held in Jakarta. We are looking for the right location," said Erick Thohir last July.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup event will be attended by 24 participating teams. The entire team will be divided into six pots each containing four teams.

Currently, there are four leading pots containing six teams that will be drawn later. The U-17 Indonesian national team joined Pot 1 because of their host status.

In addition, the Garuda Asia squad is confirmed to be included in Group A. In Pot 1 apart from Indonesia, there are Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, and Germany.

Then in Pot 2, there are Mali, England, Japan, South Korea, Argentina and Ecuador. Then in Pot 3 there are New Zealand, Iran, Senegal, the United States, Uzbekistan, and Morocco.

Finally in Pot 4 there are Canada, New Caledonia, Panama, Burkina Faso, Poland, and Venezuela.

The U-17 World Cup 2023 will be held in Indonesia from November 10 to December 2. Four stadiums have been appointed by FIFA to hold matches, namely the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo) and Gelora Bung Tomo (Surabaya).
