Mauricio Pochettino Is Not Close To The Possibility Of Lukaku Returning To Chelsea's Main Squad

JAKARTA - Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino did not rule out Romelu Lukaku to return to the team's main squad. Lukaku's condition is currently still being exiled and on the Blues' sell list.

Lukaku is one of Chelsea's old players who has not been given a jersey number this season. He is no longer expected to continue his work at Stamford Bridge, after showing his intention not to last long.

However, Pochettino said that the current situation of the player could change, given that anything can happen in football.

"The situation (the wound) has not changed, but in football everything can happen. I don't know what will happen in the future but until now, the situation has not changed," said Pochettino about Lukaku's fate, quoted by The Athletic, Friday, August 25.

"The situation was clear before we arrived. There was a desire between the club and the players to find a solution."

"Currently, we are still relaxed. If something changes, we will definitely inform you, but at this time nothing has changed," continued the coach.

Although Chelsea seemed reluctant to release Lukaku again on loan, not many enthusiasts who wanted to buy him. Juventus had reportedly intended to exchange Lukaku for Dusan Vlahovic, but recently the Serbian striker showed his determination to stay with the Old Lady.

With the current situation, Lukaku has to be in a race against time. The remaining player transfer market is a week away. On the other hand, Chelsea are also chasing additional ammunition up front so it doesn't depend on Nicolas Jackson one after Christopher Nkunku is sidelined by injury.

"In football, the existing dynamics are running fast and can change. We need to keep going. Today, today, nothing has changed. If anything changes, we will adapt to whatever is there," explained Pochettino.
