The Meeting Of The Indonesian National Team And Vietnam Makes Group D A Special

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team was included in a tough group at the 2023 Asian Cup. Based on the draw results, the Red and White squad entered Group D along with two Asian giants namely Japan and Iraq, as well as the arch-enemy of the Indonesian national team, Vietnam.

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said this group is special because it is inhabited by Indonesian rivals in Southeast Asia, Vietnam.

"Vietnam as we know is our rival in ASEAN whose performance in Asia is very good. All opponents are tough but our team also has the quality to make a surprise," Erick said in an official statement.

Erick believes that Shin Tae-yong's squad has a chance to compete. This opportunity will not be wasted by the Red and White team.

"This is our fifth participation in the Asian Cup and we have been absent since 2007 and have only been able to return to the Asian Cup. We must take advantage of this opportunity by fighting until the end," said the Minister of SOEs.

Previously, although steep, Erick was sure that the Garuda squad would live it with the spirit of never giving up. The players are considered not to be afraid and ready to go all out.

"We already know that the quality of Japan is already the world elite, as well as with Iraq and Vietnam. The whole team is a tough team," Erick said in an official written statement.
