JAKARTA - Inter Milan made one step closer to the Champions League final after beating AC Milan in the first leg of the last four, Thursday, May 11, early morning WIB.
Inter kicked Milan with a quick goal early in the first half. In the first 11 minutes, Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan sent Inter home with a smile on the face.
The 2-0 win at the San Siro makes Inter now more profitable than their city rivals. Especially in the second leg later, Inter will act as hosts in the same place.
Despite having advantages, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi did not want to be happy. He emphasized that his team still has work to do to reach the Champions League final.
"We could have done more than two goals, but it was a great game. We've gone through a few rounds, we know we're ahead," Inzaghi told Amazon Prime Video.
"Now there will be a second leg, we will have fans with us and obviously we know that we still have to make big efforts to make dreams come true."
"I asked for it yesterday, heart and mind. They cover every corner of the pitch and they help us. That's how a show like this was performed. Now it's true to be happy, but we know we still miss something," he continued.
Meanwhile, Dzeko, the first goalscorer, warned his teammates not to give up ahead of the second leg, Tuesday next week.
"Obviously we know we have good results but let's say even though the next match on paper is an away game, it's actually a home game for them, it's just with our fans in front of it," Dzeko told BT Sport.
"We have to be careful because they are a good team, but if we play like we did today, we are on a good track."
