Bali United Coach Waits for Clarity on Foreign Player Regulations

JAKARTA - Bali United coach Stefano 'Teco' Cugurra said he was still waiting for clarity on regulations regarding foreign players to be used in the Indonesian League 1 competition for the 2023/2024 season.

Quoted by ANTARA from the club's official website, Thursday, May 4, Teco explained the importance of official regulations so that every Indonesian League 1 club can prepare the composition of foreign players according to the team's needs.

"We are still waiting for official regulations regarding this matter as a basis for us and management to deal with two or three new foreign players. We will also look at the position according to the team's needs to bring in these foreign players," explained Teco.

According to reports circulating, the regulations for foreign players in the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 1 competition will be added to five (free) and one (Asian) after previously referring to three free and one Asian quotas.

The changes in regulation for foreign players follow the references that apply in Asia to facilitate competition in AFC competitions.

According to Teco, he will consider adding the foreign player quota because the imported players must have a positive impact on the team.

"It all depends on the quality of foreign players and their adaptation. Will these foreign players sooner or later play in a new club and a new country, in Indonesia," explained Teco.

Currently, Serdadu Tridatu's squad still has three foreign players, namely Privat Mbarga (free), Eber Bessa (free), and Brwa Nouri (Asia).

Previously, Bali United chose not to continue working with Brazilian defender Wellington Carvalho, who was brought in halfway through last season to replace Willian Pacheco.

If the regulations for foreign players change, then Bali United still has three places that can be added to enter the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 1 competition.
