Knocked Out Of Swiss Open, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Looks At Madrid Spain Masters

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung immediately looked at the next tournament, namely the BWF World Tour Super 300 Madrid Spain 2023 at the Centro Deportivo Municipal Gallor, Madrid, Spain, on 28 March-2 April.

Gregoria was just eliminated in the semifinals of the Swiss Open 2023 Super 300, Sunday WIB, after losing to sixth seed from Thailand Pornpawee Chochuwong with a score of 21-18, 13-21, 17-21.

"After this, I want a good recovery first. Because to be honest, it was quite tiring in this match. Moreover, a few days ago I had a hard flu," said Gregoria in a written statement received in Jakarta as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

"So I want to recover as well as possible. Take care of my body, take vitamins, eat regularly, rest sleep is also regular. Maybe the rest I will try to adapt to field conditions and the weather in Madrid later," he added.

While in Switzerland, the 23-year-old badminton player admitted that he performed better than the previous tournaments. Even so, there are still a number of things that need to be addressed, such as stamina.

"I'm grateful to be able to go to the semifinals (Swiss Open) but to be honest I actually want more results. Maybe in the future, if you are in a situation like this, you have to be prepared a lot, like mentally. I have to see how difficult it is to get here. So don't waste the opportunity," concluded Gregoria.

As for the 2023 Madrid Spain Masters, Gregoria will become Indonesia's representative in the women's singles sector with Putri Kusuma Wardani.

On the official BWF website, Indonesia also has Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo in the men's singles sector who has been on the list of players in the first round.

In the men's doubles sector, there are the world number one pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthindan, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan.

In the women's doubles, the name Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti who withdrew in the semifinals of the Swiss Open 2023 is still on the list of derivatives at Madrid Spain 2023. Then there are Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

For mixed doubles, Indonesia has Zachariah Josianho Sumanti/Hediana Julimarbela, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, and Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Marsheilla Gischa Islami.
