Three Indonesian Doubles Prepare To Face China In The 2023 All England Semifinals

JAKARTA - Three Indonesian badminton doubles will face a team from China in the semifinals of the All England 2023. The match will also take place on Saturday night in Birmingham, England.

Men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan will be one of the Garuda Squad representatives who will be in action. The couple nicknamed The Daddies will face the Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang pair.

"Against Wang/Liang in the semifinals, they are doing well, again on fire. We will first discuss it with the coach later for strategy but now we want to focus on recovery first," Hendra said, as quoted by Antara.

The Daddies advanced to the semifinals of the BWF Super 1000 tournament thanks to a victory over other Chinese representatives, namely Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi in the match Friday night in Birmingham, England.

Apart from The Daddies, two other Indonesian doubles who were present in the semifinals were world number one men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

World number one men's doubles Fajar/Rian will meet He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong. Then Rehan/Lisa will face the world's number one mixed double Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong.

Based on a report by the World Badminton Federation (BWF) on its official website, Rehan/Lisa still hasn't found the best game against Zheng/Huang.

The Indonesian duo still failed to record a win over Zheng/Huang in the two meetings they had in the first round of the Denmark Open 2022 and the last 16 of the India Open 2023.

While Fajar/Rian still have more chances to excel because they lead the record against He/Zhou with a score of 2-1.

Today's Fajar/Rian vs He/Zhou match will be a repeat of their meeting in the 2022 Indonesia Masters semifinals. At that time, Fajar/Rian won two straight games 21-17, 21-17.
