Conor McGregor Takes A Promise To Floyd Mayweather For A Rematch

JAKARTA Conor McGregor apparently has not given up on former heavyweight boxer Floyd Mayweather. The mixed martial artist (MMA) is now demanding a promise to The Money for a rematch.

McGregor previously crossed into boxing to fight Mayweather in 2017. At that time, the Irish fighter had to admit his opponent's superiority in a 10-round duel.

McGregor said before the duel they had made a verbal agreement regarding the rematch. However, until now Mayweather did not fulfill it so he was accused of disrespecting their agreement.

"This is the initial agreement. The rematch was a verbal deal. I boxed him and he fought against me. However, he didn't respect it," McGregori said as quoted by The Sun.

Mayweather officially retired after the cash struggle, which is said to be worth around 300 million or 5.6 trillion.

However, since then he has continued to box in various exhibition fights. Last year he also revealed that he was negotiating to face McGregor in a rematch.

McGregor said he remained open to a rematch in the ring as Mayweather wanted. However, the former UFC champion warned he could have appeared beyond the scenario.

"I could have said that this rematch was a boxing fight, but I could have broken the rules while we were there," he joked.

McGregor is currently said to be preparing to meet Michael Chandler. This will be his first fight since experiencing a terrible leg fracture when he lost to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

"I hope the end of the summer. We are working on the end of the summer. I always train, I train every day," he said.
