Manchester United Era Erik Ten Hag Is Increasingly Promising, The English League Cup Is Just The Beginning

JAKARTA - Manchester United ended the title thirst that has lasted for almost six years. The club nicknamed the Red Devils broke eggs by reaching the 2022/2023 English League Cup.

The spirit is growing in the team body. Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag said, it was very important for his team to win the first trophy.

The reason is, this inaugural trophy can trigger inspiration and also motivate the team to achieve even more.

"First, you have to win first, and that's what we did today. I think you get a lot of inspiration from this, but also more confident that we can do it," said the Dutchman, as reported by Stats Performer.

"I think we are still in the early stages of returning Manchester United to its original place and that is winning trophies and this is the first," he continued.

He then paid respect to his players who he judged were very connected to each other. "They also challenge each other. In difficult times, they help each other," said Ten Hag.

"I'm happy to see him and I think that's the best a manager can get."

The same belief was conveyed by MU senior player, Luke Shaw. He emphasized that this was just the beginning of the Red Devils in the Ten Hag era.

"We said earlier, we wanted to create our own history here with a new team and new manager, and I think (this) is the beginning," he told Sky Sports.

"We want to start with a trophy and this is just the beginning for us," continued the player who is also the mainstay of the England national team.

In line with Shaw, David De Gea also feels the same atmosphere. Confidence continues to grow with time with the new manager.

In fact, the Spanish goalkeeper had the courage to look at other trophies that were in sight.

As is known, the club based in Carrington is still involved in title competition in the English Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

"We are still in three competitions, and we have the opportunity to win more trophies. I feel the mentality of the team is the winner," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I'm emotional because it's been a long time without a trophy. We've been in several finals and we lost, so we know today we have to do it," added the goalkeeper who now holds the club's cleansheet record for the most times beating Peter Schmeichel.
