JAKARTA - Real Madrid showed their strength when they met Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League last 16, Wednesday, February 22 in the morning WIB. Coming to Anfield Stadium, Real Madrid won 5-2 over the hosts.

This victory feels special for Karim Benzema. He later dedicated it to the late President of Honor,

"This is an important night for us, and I would like to dedicate this appearance to our late President of Honor, Amancio (Amaro). This victory is for him," said Karim Benzema after the match, quoted from UEFA's official website, Wednesday, February 22.

Amancio is known to have breathed his last at the age of 83. The legend's death was announced before the duel at the Reds headquarters took place.

Despite being plagued by grief, Madrid really showed a performance with a winning mentality.

In the match against Liverpool, Los Blancos were 0-2 behind. However, Carlo Ancelotti's team then got up.

Madrid did not panic even though they were left behind until they managed to turn things around. Benzema considered this situation a moment that showed the team's personality.

The captain was confident that his team could win the Champions League again. "We played with personality. We scored a lot of goals," he said.
