President Jokowi Will Ask For An Explanation Of Erick Thohir And Zainudin Amali Regarding PSSI

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will meet Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir and Menpora Zainudin Amali in the near future. Both will be asked for an explanation after being elected as PSSI leaders.

Jokowi will ask his two ministers to explain the targets and plans for national football.

"Next week it looks like I will meet you, I will ask, is there a road map yet? Is there a target yet? To achieve that target, what should be done?" Jokowi said, as reported by Antara, Friday, February 17.

According to the President, these things must be clearly planned if Indonesian football wants to progress.

"The most important thing is that there is a change, there is a total reform, there is a transformation, so that from the strength we have, the potential we have, it can really be seen progress," said Jokowi.

Therefore, the President emphasized that it is important for a sports federation and its leaders to have long-term roadmaps such as a span of 25 years or 50 years to optimize this potential.

In addition, the President also reminded another aspect, namely the procurement of infrastructure, especially national training centers. The President admitted that this had been input from the coach of the Indonesian national team Shin Tae-yong in a meeting some time ago.

"What is also important is that infrastructure development must be improved. Until now we have not had a basecamp that has it, I was talking to Shin Tae-yong, yes, five fields in one location and lodging for the players," said Jokowi.

Previously, Erick Thohir was elected as the General Chair of PSSI 2023-2027 after beating another candidate, LaNyalla Matalitti, at the PSSI KLB, last February 16. Meanwhile, Ratu Tisha Destria and Menpora Zainudin Amali were elected as PSSI Deputy General Chairs.
