Menpora's Response To Rumors Of Government Intervention In Exco PSSI Contestation: It Has A Classification

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali responded to the large number of state officials who participated in the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) election market for the 2023/2027 period. This is widely referred to as a form of government intervention for the federation.

Menpora itself did not agree with the response. According to him, what is meant by intervention is that there is a separate class.

"Look, you can't distinguish between intervention, participation, and facilitation, that's a classification," replied Zainudin Amali when met after the event at the Kemenpora Auditorium, Central Jakarta on Monday, February 13 afternoon.

"So intervention is the realm of policy, if there is no problem with personal participation," he continued.

Zainudin Amali himself is included in state officials who participate in the PSSI nomination market. He registered as a candidate for PSSI Deputy General Chair (Cawaketum) even though he currently still occupies the position of Minister of Youth and Sports.

"The government's intervention, for example, League 2, was stopped, then the government forced it to work. That's called intervention, but this isn't it," said the Minister of Youth and Sports giving an example.

"Congress is something normal, then everyone has the right to participate, whoever he wants because there are no restrictions there," he continued.

Zainudin Amali then explained that even though he currently has a government position that participates in the PSSI nomination market. He considered this a real form of building Indonesian football.

"What I clearly said earlier was that the government had a very strong desire to build football, the proof was through the Presidential Instruction, whether the Presidential Instruction was then intervening, no. That's why the government's realm of providing support to national football," continued the Menpora again.
