JAKARTA - Ducati Lenovo's Francesco Bagnaia was quite satisfied with the results of the 2023 MotoGP pre-season test at the Sepang Circuit, last weekend. Although not being the fastest, he still feels happy because his motorbike's performance has encouraging potential.

Bagnaia broke the 1:57,969 time record in the final test session, Sunday, February 12. He took second place with a margin of 0.080 seconds from the driver of the ratchet VR46 Racing Team, Luca Marini.

"I think we completed this test at the same level as 2022, so I'm happy, I can relax because I'm a little afraid if it's not at the same level," Bagnaia said, as reported by Antara via MotoGP.com.

"Seeing the improvements we got today, I'm sure our new bike has great potential, especially regarding top speed and also similar to 2022," he continued.

One of the things that makes him happy is the time record when doing time attack using used tires.

"I'm very happy, we used used tires and showed incredible speed, and for time attack I'm happy," said Bagnaia.

"This year's first attack time was always difficult, but I'm happy to get through 1:57, never like that before. This is my best lap time here," he continued.

However, Ducati's latest Desmosedici still leaves a lot of room for repairs towards the next test in Portimao, Portugal.
