Becoming The First UFC-contracted Indonesian Fighter, Jeka Saragih: Horas!

JAKARTA MMA fighter, Jeka Saragih, immediately asked for the support of the Indonesian people and their hometowns after signing a contract with the promotion of mixed martial arts, UFC.

The fighter from Simalungun, North Sumatra, made history as the first Indonesian to be contracted by the UFC. The video of the moment of signing the contract was uploaded on social media on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

"For the people of Indonesia, especially North Sumatra, Siantar, Simalungun, please pray and support for my fight later at the UFC. Horas!" Jeka said in a video uploaded on his personal Instagram.

In the video, Jeka is seen accompanied by his manager Graham Boylan when he signed an agreement. He signed a contract for five fights with the UFC.

Jeka was presented with a contract because of his ability to win by knockout on his way to the final Road to UFC. Unfortunately, in the final which took place on Sunday, February 5, he lost to his opponent from India, Anshul Jubli.

"The UFC still gave him a contract offer based on the ability to win KO in the previous round. Jeka will then train in the United States to make his debut," Mola said in an official statement.

Actually, the fighter who deserves a contract is the fighter who wins in the final from the four divisions that are competed. Jeka himself is in the lightweight division.

On his way to the final, Jeka was recorded as having won two knockouts. He won his first knockout in the quarter-finals against Indian representatives totaling Maan Singh.

Meanwhile, he scored his second knockout victory in the semifinals. It was the turn of the Korean fighter Ki Won Bin who was the victim of the 28-year-old fighter.
