JAKARTA - A big decision was made by basketball player, naturalized by Jamarur Andre Johnson. Through a video, he uttered the sentence of creed and uploaded it via his personal Instagram account @marrbal71n.

The content, which was just uploaded on Friday, January 20, that morning, showed Jamarur saying two sentences of creed in English and Arabic. In the video, Jamarur along with a photographer from the United States Langstone Hues, who owns the @langstonhues account.

The video also describes a video call recording between Jamarur and Hues. Jamarur sat while brandishing his index finger while saying two sentences of shahadat following Hues' words.

"I testify that there is no God but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the last prophet," said Jamarur following a speech made by Langston Hues in English.

"Asyhadu an laa ilaaha illallaahu, wa asyhadu anna muhammad rasuulullah," continued Jamarur ending with a smile.

Langston Hues, who is also a convert, wrote a message in the upload that Jamarur had previously studied Islam independently, as reported by Antara.

Hues also said that he also often communicated with Jamarur discussing the beauty and truth in Islam so that he was interested in becoming a Muslim.

"Allahu Akbar, as of January 19, 2023 he is now a Muslim making us Syahadat twins. May Allah continue to bless him and guide him in this beautiful path. Amen, Takbir!" Hues wrote in an Instagram upload.

Earlier on Thursday (19/1), Jamarur had also uploaded a photo of himself in a basketball match and pinned an Islamic message. "For Muhamad and Allah, the Giver. Through You, everything is possible. I know, You hear. Thank you," wrote Jamarur.

Jamarur is a basketball player born in the United States who is now an Indonesian citizen or naturalized.

Jamarur joins the Louvre Indonesia team and is currently competing in the 2023 ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Previously, Jamarur strengthened the Dewa United Banten team in the Indonesia Basketball League (IBL) competition.

However, Jamar has difficulty playing regularly in the IBL because of the regulations set out regarding local naturalized players. Each club is only allowed to have two foreign players and only one is allowed to compete on the field.
