Marco Asensio Draws How Hard It Is For Real Madrid To Compete For A Spanish Super Final Ticket From Valencia's HANDs

JAKARTA - Real Madrid stepped into the final round of the Spanish Super Cup after eliminating Valencia, Thursday, January 12, early morning WIB.

The victory was not easily achieved. Los Blancos had to go through the penalty shootout before confirming tickets to the top party.

At normal times, Madrid took the lead through a penalty goal from Karim Benzema in the 39th minute. Valencia responded in the 46th minute through Lino's action. The 1-1 draw lasted until it was finally decided the match went to the penalty round.

During a high-five complaint, two Valencia players, namely Comert and Luis Gaya, failed to fulfill their duties. Meanwhile, four Madrid executors did not disappoint their supporters.

"It was a complicated game, without much rhythm. It was almost detrimental to us, but we were in the final," Madrid player Marco Asensio told how difficult the game was against Valencia.

"That is where we want it to be, and we will pursue another title," he continued.

Asensio admitted that Lino's goal early in the second half disrupted the team's plan. Madrid actually avoided the match being continued into the penalty shootout round.

"We wanted to enter the second half with intensity and rhythm, but their goals interfered with our plans. We continued to push, and the game could fall to both sides," Asensio said, as reported by Football Espana.

"We wanted to avoid penalties but the ball didn't go in for us (in normal time), but we won the penalty and we were very happy to play another final."

Real Madrid will face the winner of the match between Real Betis or Barcelona in the final. Regarding the next opponent, Asensio has no preference who his team faces.

"We will try to win against anyone in the final," he said.
