Malaysia Open 2023: Deputy Host For The First Victim Of The Minions, Next The Chinese Doubles?

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, stepped into the second round of the Malaysia Open 2023. The former world number one defeated the host representative Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee.

Kevin/Marcus won two straight games 21-18 and 23-21 at the Axiata Arena, Wednesday, January 11 evening WIB.

The pair who became the second seed will then face Chinese representatives Liang Wei Kadis/Wang Chang. The Bamboo Curtain country doubles also beat the host pair Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

The Minions are one of three men's doubles who qualified today. The other two tickets were obtained by Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

Leo/Daniel escaped by defeating Japanese representatives Akira Koga/Taichi Saito. Meanwhile Bagas/Fikri advanced to the second round after winning over Thailand's Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren.

In addition to the three tickets in the men's doubles number, Indonesia also added one ticket each from the men's mixed doubles and singles.

The addition of five representatives today made Indonesia total 14 representatives in the second round. On the first day, last Tuesday, nine Indonesian athletes qualified for the second round.

Women's singles and mixed doubles each secured one ticket, men's singles and women's doubles for two tickets each, and three men's doubles tickets.

From the men's singles and women's singles sectors, the Red and White representatives who qualified for the second round were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Jonatan Christie.

Meanwhile, from the women's doubles number, the second round ticket was pocketed by Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

The men's doubles are Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Yacob Rambitan, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

In the mixed doubles number that passed, namely Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, while the one who was eliminated was Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
