The Indonesian National Team Has A Record Of Defending Thai Opponents, Shin Tae-yong: People Can Believe

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will face Thailand in the 2022 AFF Cup. Both teams will clash at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, December 29.

The Garuda squad had a bad record when they met Thailand since 1957. Of the 80 matches that have been played, half have been won by Thailand.

Meanwhile, 25 matches were controlled by Indonesia and the rest ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, in the last six meetings since 2016, Indonesia has not even been able to beat Thailand. Throughout that, Indonesia was only able to impose two series and the rest were completed with defeat.

The Indonesian national team's record against Thailand in the Shin Tae-yong era is also not good. The man from South Korea has never brought the Red and White Team to beat Thailand since his duty starting at the end of 2019.

When meeting in the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup, Indonesia drew goalless with Thailand. At the U-23 level, Indonesia lost 0-1 to Thailand in the semifinals of the 2021 SEA Games.

In the senior national team, Shin brought Indonesia to a 2-2 series with Thailand in the Asian zone 2022 World Cup Qualification Group G match. Then, the "Garuda" team ran aground 0-4 in the first leg of the 2020 AFF Cup final and was equally strong 2-2 in the second leg.

However, Shin is optimistic that his team can win this time. He also asked supporters to continue to provide support.

The South Korean tactician said that the negative results at the previous meeting occurred because he still needed time to build the Indonesian national team.
