JAKARTA - Conor McGregor's plan to fight again in the octagon next year could be delayed again. In fact, the delay could take six months because the fighter had to take the UFC (USADA) anti-doping test first.

McGregor has recently continued to talk about his plans to return to action after recovering from his horrific broken leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

"I will definitely undergo tests in February. I will complete my two tests at USADA and we will arrange the fight," McGregor tweeted on Wednesday.

However, the fighter nicknamed Notorious has yet to re-enter the United States Anti-Doping Agency. So, he had to be there for at least six months before setting the match schedule.

The Irish fighter could compete sooner again from the set time as long as he got an exemption from the UFC. McGregor had previously obtained this exception in previous years.

If an exception is granted, McGregor will only undergo two drug tests before returning to the octagon. However, USADA Communications Director Averi Walker doesn't really believe the Irish superstar can qualify for the exemption.

"McGregor is not registered with our test group and must be for six months unless an exception is granted, which we think will not apply," said Averi as quoted by The Sun, Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

McGregor was previously expected to return to action in the fall, but recently the fighter revealed that his shot had not yet reached the 100 percent level.
