JAKARTA - Indonesian racer, Andi Farid Idhizar, familiarly called Andi Gilang, made history at the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). He became the first Indonesian racer to win the Supersport 600 class.
This is thanks to the double victory in the last ARRC 2022 series which took place at the Buriram Circuit, Thailand, last weekend. Andi Gilang closed the 2022 ARRC season with a total of 158 points.
Andi Gilang's points are actually the same as the Malaysian racer, Md Helmi Azman. However, the racer from Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, has the right to win because he has won more podiums.
Throughout the 2022 season, Andi Gilang has been on the podium six times, four of which have won.
"I'm speechless. I want to thank my family for always providing support, also to the team," Andi said on the Asia Road Racing YouTube account.
"This season I have had ups and downs. However, the team has always supported me and given my best. They are entitled to this result," he continued.
Andi Gilang's achievement helped make his team, Astra Honda Racing Team, make history. They became the first Indonesian team to be able to lead Indonesian racers to win in the 600CC class in Asia.
"Thank you to all Indonesian racing lovers who never tire of supporting us this full season," wrote the Astra Honda Racing Team on their Instagram account.
