Manchester Derby Ended Goalless, Both Teams Don't Know How To Spread Threats

JAKARTA - The first edition of the Manchester derby this season between Manchester United and Manchester City lasted minimal opportunities and ended with a zero score in Week 12 of the Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium, England, Saturday local time (Sunday WIB).

The only incident that caught the eye of the match occurred in the second half of just two minutes when Marcus Rashford was brought down by Kyle Walker in the box.

Referee Chris Kavanagh initially pointed to the spot after the incident, before he consulted VAR and overturned the decision.

The reason is, Rashford was sentenced to have already been in an offside position when Bruno Fernandes sent a cross before he was brought down by Walker.

Apart from that incident, the match went on like two teams that did not know how to seriously threaten their opponents' defense.

The Premier League's statistics show that both teams fired two shots on target, and that didn't make it too difficult for each goalkeeper to make a save that was too complicated.

It seems that for the two teams a draw is enough to maintain a recordless record, five consecutive games for United and three games in a row for City.

The draw left United stuck in seventh with a collection of 20 points, one strip above City (19), after the two teams were overtaken by West Ham United (20) and Southampton (20), Antara noted on the official Premier League website.

In the next match, City will appear early on Tuesday when they host West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad, while United have only played two days ago by visiting Sheffield United.
