Beated Brutally, Kazakh Boxers Not Only Losing Their World Champion Title But Also Koma

JAKARTA - Kazakh boxer Aidos Yerbossynuly fell into a coma after losing to David Murrell Jr in the race for a middleweight WBA world boxing title.

According to a report by News.com.au, Yerbossynuly was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. He is in a medically induced coma due to bleeding in the brain.

PBC and TGB Promotions issued a statement, "TGB Promotions and PBC representatives are in Minneapolis with the Aidos team and we are monitoring the situation closely."

"To respect the privacy of him and his family, we can't share any details, but we ask the boxing community to pray for him," the statement continued.

Yerbossynuly, covered in blood, was dropped twice in the 12th round before referee Tony Weeks stopped the match. Boxers hope the 30-year-old athlete recovers quickly.

"Pray for Aidos Yerbossynuly. He needs prayers and healing energy from us," said promoter Lou DiBella.

The news about Aidos also attracted the attention of former world champion, Yordenis Ugas. The 36-year-old boxer tweeted on his Twitter account.

"This news hurts all boxers. You can doubt any fighter's job as a fan, but never underestimate it," wrote Ugas.

"A fighter's biggest win is getting off with his feet from above (the ring) there. Pray for you champions," he continued.

Support was also reported by George Kambosos. "Keep fighting for the champion!" he said.

Coach Borrell airing Shields admits Yerbossynuly should have been pulled from the fight earlier. However, that didn't happen until the boxer received too much punishment.

"He took too many punches. And you know? This kid may never be able to fight again. That's as bad as that," Shields told Boxing Scene.
