Barcelona Salaries Debt Of Rp1.1 Trillion To 3 Players, Including Gerard Pique

JAKARTA Barcelona are reportedly still in debt with three of their players. The salary arrears included with their veteran player Gerard Pique.

The latest report from Catalan outlet El Nacional said the total unpaid salary for their three players was 80 million euros or IDR 1.1 trillion.

According to the report, apart from Pique, who rarely gets playing minutes in the season, Barcelona has also not paid their two experienced players, namely Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

Currently Alba and Busquets are estimated to have a salary of around 20 million euros per year. Meanwhile, Pique's salary, according to OK Diario data, is 30 million euros (Rp 446 billion) per year.

Barcelona's Deputy Economic President Eduard Romeu has also explained the current situation faced by the club. He hopes that next year the Spanish La Liga giant will be able to escape financial problems.

"We still have a significant imbalance but we have a series of important contract maturitys that expire this year and the following year, and next season we are already at the point we want," Sportkeeda said.

In their report, El Nacional said that Barcelona is currently working to settle salary debts to their players.

This allows the three names to leave the club at the end of their contract later. Currently Busquets have an agreement ending in 2023. Meanwhile, the other two names are still under contract until 2024.

However, the club could reportedly release Pique in 2023 if he doesn't play 35 percent of the games this season.
