JAKARTA - The 2022 Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 (F1 GP) has broken the record for the most spectators in their history to host it. Of the 13 editions of the F1 Singapore GP that have been held, this year will be the most successful.

Quoted from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), over the weekend since Free Exercise (FP) 1 on Friday, September 30 until the main race session on Sunday, October 2, the number of spectators reached 302,000 people.

This figure is the highest record in history of F1 being held in Singapore. The average number of daily spectators who reached 100,667 people this year also broke a record that had been recorded before.

In 2008, the record for the most spectators in Singapore F1 reached 300 thousand people with an average of 100 thousand visitors present per day.

This record is good news for Singapore, which is trying to revive the tourism sector after falling asleep for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the pandemic situation, the night race in F1 Singapore, which is the main attraction, cannot be presented in 2020 and 2021.

In the 2021 season, the race in Singapore was won by Red Bull Racing driver, Sergio Perez. Starting the race from second but the Mexican racer successfully absorbed Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to finish line.
