Eriksen's Transfer Drama That Infuriated Mourinho

JAKARTA - Inter Milan's slow efforts in hunting down Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen have been criticized by coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese man is not happy that one of his players is nervous because he is waiting for certainty.

Mourinho does not include Eriksen in the squad for their match against Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday 25 January. In fact, in the match which ended 1-1, the Danish midfielder had already left for St Mary's.

Inter have been chasing Eriksen for most of the January transfer window. Speculation about Eriksen's future in London has been questioned since he said he wanted to leave Spurs last year.

It is believed Tottenham have almost agreed a fee for Eriksen and he could go to Italy early next week for a medical examination. However, Mourinho is unhappy with how he has been left with a restless player for weeks when a deal can be finalized now.

"You can read what you want to read, I don't want to say anything. I just want to say that this situation shouldn't happen on January 25," Mourinho told reporters after the match against Southampton.

"And it is not Tottenham's fault that on January 25 we are in that situation."

Despite constant speculation surrounding Eriksen's future, Mourinho has fielded the playmaker on several occasions.

Eriksen came on as a substitute for the second half of Wednesday's 2-1 win over Norwich but was booed by a number of fans who were unhappy with the Danish player who was seen as lacking commitment.

Mourinho refused to blame Eriksen and instead hinted that Inter should take responsibility.

"All I can say is Eriksen, since I came, he's been very, very professional, with me and the team," said Mourinho.

"Inter are the last to blame for this situation, but to be on January 25th in a situation like this is not good."
