Recognizing The Chess Player Titles Of The Federation Internationale Des Eches

YOGYAKARTA - Catur is a sport that is favored by various ages, ranging from children, adults, to parents. chess also has its own Olympics which is held by the Federation Internationale des Eches (FIDE) or the International Chess Federation. In this sport there are also chess players.

Not many know that in chess there are also chess titles. This title marks the level/quality of a chess player. Titles for chess players are only given by the FIDE. This organization was founded in 1924 in Paris, France. The FIDE oversees various chess federations of countries in the world.

The chess title is classified based on Elo's score. Elo is a ranking level or level made by FIDE. The use of this ranking system was inaugurated by the FIDE in 1970. To get to Elo's ranking, chess players must take part in official tournaments from the FIDE.

The chess players at the highest level are the Grandmaster (GM) and Woman Grandmaster (GM). FIDE will win this title to chess players who are considered worthy of this level.

FIDE awarded the GM title for the first time officially in 1914. The first GM was awarded to the finalists of the tournament at Saint Petersburg, namely Tsar Nikolai II, Alekhine, Capablanca, Lasker, Marshall, Tarrasch.

WGM also has the same requirements with GM. However, the WGM title is more exclusive, named specifically to female players. Irene Sukandar won the first WGM title in 2008. GM and WGM were obtained when they had a score of at least 2,500.

The chess title in second place is called the International Master (IM) and the Woman International Master (WIM). This title is below GM and WGM. FIDE officially named this title the first time in 1950. This title can be obtained if the chess player reaches the score of Elo 2400.

The chess title under IM and WIM is the FIDE Master and Woman FIDE Master. FIDE introduced the title for the first time in 1978. The requirement to be able to achieve this title, the fired player must get a score of 2300 Elo.

The bottom titles of chess players are Candate Master (CM) and Woman Candate Master (WCM). FIDE introduced this title for the first time in 2002. The chess player can earn this title by collecting Elo score of 2200 or more. There is another way to win CM and WCM titles by winning 50 percent or more of the 7 matches in the Olympics.

In addition to chess players, the title in the chess world is also played by the coach. The title for the chess coach is also given by the FIDE. The following is the list of titles.
