JAKARTA - Warm rumors surround the stock exchange of Formula 1 drivers. Mercedes is reportedly starting to consider replacing Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes sees Daniel Ricciardo as a potential long-term replacement for Hamilton

Hamilton's contract is coming to an end. The seven-time world champion could have gone to another team or retired after the 2023 season.

Following news of his departure from McLaren, Ricciardo is currently without a team for next season. Mercedes will sign the rider with a reserve status first.

He will then be installed as George Russell's teammate for the 2024 season.

"Mercedes is thinking of Ricciardo to cover up Hamilton's chances of leaving at the end of next season," the Daily Mail said.

"Having Daniel in their camp means George will become the main driver by 2024," the report continued.

Hamilton has not confirmed his plans after the end of next season. However, the driver who will enter the age of 39 has emphasized that the decision about his future rests with him, not anyone else.

As is known, Ricciardo has not yet determined his future after being sacked by McLaren. The 33-year-old was sacked and replaced by two Formula 2 titles, Oscar Piastri.

Recently, the rumors circulating said that Ricciardo was linked by joining Haas for the 2023 season.
