Premier League Schedule, Manchester United Vs Brighton: Erik Ten Hag's First Task To Get Three Points

JAKARTA – Manchester United will play the first match of the English Premier League for the 2022/2023 season tonight. This will be the first competitive task for their new coach Erik Ten Hag.

The Red Devils will host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday, August 7 at 20.00 WIB. The hosts certainly don't want to lose points when playing in front of their own supporters.

Manchester United finished sixth in the standings last season. They are about 13 points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur who are in the last four of the top four.

Ten Hag may not be able to do much so that MU is included in the ranks of the team challenging the league title this season. However, the Dutch coach has the task of bringing the team to a close in the top four.

Other teams that may be their serious competitors in that position are Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Liverpool entered as favorites to win.

So far Tottenham and Arsenal have improved their squads by bringing in some impressive players. Manchester United brought in three players, namely Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez.

Chelsea has also got some important names, including Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. They recently brought in Marc Cucurella, who broke Brighton's transfer record this weekend.

The three teams that competed in the top four of MU managed to open the season comfortably. Each of them managed to bring home three points from the first game.

Arsenal and Chelsea started their journey as away teams by beating Crystal Palace and Everton. Then Spurs who hosted Southampton also managed to record a big 4-1 victory.

While the competitors got off to a good start, the Red Devils were still haunted by several problems. Especially the speculation over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo over the last four weeks that made the start of their campaign so uncomfortable.

However, the preparation of the 20-time Premier League champions in pre-season did not disappoint at all. They played a total of six matches with three wins, two draws, and one loss.

They recorded beating Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, and Crystal Palace in their first three matches. After that, they drew with Aston Villa and Rayo Vallecano and lost to Atletico Madrid.
