Wants Lionel Messi To Return To Barcelona, Fabregas: I Speak As A Fan

JAKARTA - Former Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas hopes Lionel Messi returns to Camp Nou after his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain expires.

Messi was one of the living legends of the Catalan team before leaving for PSG last summer. He defended Barcelona for 17 years and contributed to many titles.

"As a Barcelona fan, I hope and hope that Messi returns to Barcelona," said Fabregas, who was Messi's team-mate at Barca for three seasons.

Messi went to Paris after refusing a contract extension with the Blaugrana. He joined Les Parisien with a contract duration of two years and will expire in June next year.

The contract period is almost running out, making Messi again linked with his former club. Barcelona are even open to accepting the Argentina international if he wants to return.

"He has one year left in Paris, but I will love it. It is a dream that the club and all fans have, but I speak as a fan," said Fabregas.

Messi's opportunity to return to Spain is quite open after he underwent a difficult first season debut at PSG. He recorded only 11 goals in 34 matches in all competitions.

Fabregas is not the only one who wants Messi back at Barcelona. Barcelona president Joan Laporta also hopes that La Pulga will return and wear the Blaugrana shirt again before retiring.

"I feel, as president, I have a moral debt to him to give him the best moment of his career, or give him a better moment, for the end of his career," Laporta told The New York Times some time ago.
