JAKARTA - Real Madrid and Serbia national team striker Luka Jovic agreed to pay a fine to avoid six months in prison after violating the restrictions on COVID-19 in Spain, a local court said as quoted by Antara from Reuters on Tuesday local time.

The court said the 22-year-old striker was ordered to pay a fine of 3.5 million Serbian dinars (Rp500 million) over one month to avoid imprisonment.

Jovic, who has scored just two goals since joining Real for 60 million euros from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019, returned to Serbia when a pandemic roiled the world of sport last March.

The forward's predicament was further exacerbated when he injured his leg last May and missed most of Real's games ahead of the La Liga title.

He has started only twice in Madrid's eight games and has not been included in the line-up since losing 1-0 to Real Valladolid in September.

He last scored in a 4-1 win against Osasuna last February.
