JAKARTA - Barcelona striker Ansu Fati will be out for four months after undergoing knee surgery, the Spanish League club said on Monday.

Fati, who turned 18 last month, suffered a torn internal meniscus in his left knee as Barcelona snatched a 5-2 home win over Real Betis on Saturday.

"Ansu Fati has been successfully operated on by Dr. Ramon Cugat ... under the supervision of the club's medical staff," Barcelona said in a statement reported by Antara.

"The player will be out for about four months," the statement added.

Ansu Fati will miss Barca's La Liga trip to Atletico Madrid later this month, the remaining Champions League group stage matches and the Spanish Super Cup, which will be played in January in Saudi Arabia.

He has become one of Barca's standout players this season, scoring five goals in 10 appearances in the Spanish League and Champions League.

Last season, Ansu Fati became the club's youngest ever goalscorer in a Spanish League match and became the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history.
