The Swedish National Team Door Is Closed For Ibrahimovic

JAKARTA - Swedish national team coach Janne Andersson closed the door for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return to defend his country.

A few days ago, Ibrahimovic raised rumors of himself returning to the national team when he uploaded a photo of himself wearing a Swedish shirt on his official Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Ibrahimovic himself has been absent for four years from the national team. But lately he has performed brilliantly to contribute to bringing AC Milan to the top of the Italian League standings.

However, Andersson said he was not interested in recalling Ibrahimovic.

"There are people who tell me there is a plan behind the photo. But I don't understand what that means, it's beyond my reach. I don't spend much energy on it," Andersson told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. Friday, November 6.

"It has been four and a half years since he said he finished his career in the national team. I respect him, as many other players have made similar decisions. You can recover a little at the international break, you don't have the same pressure," he added.

Sweden is currently still unable to gain points from their first four matches in the UEFA Nations League. They will play Denmark, Croatia and France in the November international break.

Andersson successfully led his team to participate in the 2020 European Cup which had to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They finished second in qualifying Group F, behind Spain.
