Barcelona Asks Harry Maguire To Be Included In Frenkie De De Jong's Transfer Deal, Manchester United Flatly Refuses

JAKARTA - Manchester United rejected Barcelona's request to include Harry Maguire in the Frenkie De Jong transfer deal. In fact, the Red Devils manager, Erik ten Hag, really wants to get the Dutchman.

Manchester United reportedly still needs the services of Harry Maguire even though last season the player received sharp attention from supporters. Ten Hag also doesn't want to lose the English player. "United don't want to part with the defender they bought for £80 million (Rp1.4 trillion) because the new manager, Erik Ten Hag wants to work with him," wrote The Sun.

"In contrast, De Jong, who is set to move to Old Trafford with a direct payment agreement, costs Barca 69 million euros (Rp 1 billion)," continued the same source.

MU's decision actually caused a debate. Because throughout last season, the 29-year-old doorstop was often hit by criticism.

Maguire has often been the scapegoat for some of Manchester United's defeats. But the situation did not make Erik Ten Hag cynical, the coach was actually interested in working with him.

Maguire started defending the Red Devils since 2019. In order to get the defender, at that time MU had to spend 80 million pounds or equivalent to Rp. 1.4 trillion. After six months at the club, Maguire was appointed captain of the team.
