At Liverpool's Cage, Can West Ham Continue The Positive Trend?

JAKARTA - West Ham United will face Liverpool in week seven of the Premier League, Saturday, October 31. Can the Hammers continue their positive trend against top teams?

With the capital of victories over Wolverhampton and Leicester City and holding the draws of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in their last four matches, The Hammers are very confident. This was revealed by winger Jarrod Bowen.

The results against the top seven teams last season were quite positive for West Ham, considering that they were only able to secure themselves from the threat of relegation in the last two weeks of the 2019/20 season.

"I think we know how strong Liverpool are, but after the performance against Tottenham and Manchester City, we feel we can go there (Anfield) and get the best possible result," Bowen said.

"We know they will have the ball and try to attack, but as long as we can defend well and concisely, it will create opportunities for us," he added.

Bowen admits Anfield is still a challenging place to play, but with the ban on supporters still in effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic the atmosphere of Liverpool headquarters will be different.

"Anfield is clearly an extraordinary stadium. Unfortunately, the atmosphere will not be the same as the last time we visited, that's another challenge for me and my colleagues," said Bowen.

Bowen is currently West Ham's top scorer in the Premier League with three goals from the six matches he has played.

The player who was recruited by West Ham from Hull City in the January 2020 transfer market admitted that he wanted to continue to contribute to scoring more goals for The Hammers.

"I wanted to score more goals last season, but I can only contribute with assists. This season of course my target is still to score goals regularly," said Bowen.

"Of course the season is too early, but I want to score more goals and hopefully make it happen," he concluded.

West Ham are currently 12th in the standings with eight points and have a chance to move up to the top six if they create a surprise at Anfield.
