Awaiting Ramos' Coronation As The Best Central Defender Of All Time

JAKARTA - France Football is curating the world's best players ever born on planet Earth. Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is in it as one of the greatest center-backs of all time.

Ramos, the only active player on the center-back list, competes with Franco Baresi, Franz Beckenbauer, Fabio Cannavaro, Marcel Desailly, Ronald Koeman, Bobby Moore, Daniel Passarella, Matthias Sammer and Gaetano Scirea.

The winner will be determined via a vote on the France Football website, when they announce the Ballon d'Or Dream Team.

Ramos' name emerged as a favorite at center-back following the captain's superb performance in Real Madrid's 3-1 El Clasico win at Camp Nou on Saturday.

France Football conducted a survey regarding whether Ramos is considered the best center-back of all time. Currently, he is leading with 60 percent of the vote.

When it comes to Ramos, France Football shows not only his quality but also the way he has influenced his team (namely Real Madrid and Spain).

"The impression that emerges is that a defender never has the same impact on the team he plays in," wrote France Football as quoted by MARCA, Monday, October 26.

"And Ramos is in both areas, which may make him unique compared to his predecessors. The two teams have two very different faces: winning when he's there, and less calm (even losing) when he's not playing."

France Football has decided not to award the Ballon d'Or this year as a result of the impact of COVID-19 in 2019/20. In exchange they will release a list of the eleven best players of all time.

This list of the best XIs will be determined in a 3-4-3 formation. The winners will be chosen by 170 representatives in December to form the best line-up in history.
