Failed To The Final After Losing To Axelsen, Anthony Ginting: I Can Get My Confidence Back

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, failed to reach the final of the Indonesia Masters 2022 after losing to Viktor Axelsen, Saturday, June 11. He lost two straight games to the first seed with a score of 21-15 and 21-15.

Even though he lost, Ginting was not so disappointed. In fact, he sees that there is a positive side to the failure in the semifinals of the Indonesia Masters

"I'm quite grateful for today's match. Even though it stopped but I was able to grow my confidence again. Indeed this is my homework because lately, my performance has decreased. It's nice this week to be more comfortable on the field, that's what I think is most important," he said, as reported by Antara.

This confidence will be Ginting's motivation to face the BWF Super 1000 Indonesia Open next week. The bronze-winning athlete at the Tokyo Olympics hopes to play more consistently.

"The most important thing is self-confidence, I don't care about what people say. Next week I must take care of myself physically and mentally, for strategy and evaluation I will discuss it with the coach," he said.

Regarding the match against Axelsen, Ginting said that the tough defense was the root of his failure to advance to the top of the Indonesia Masters 2022. The longer reach of the hands and feet thanks to his taller body is the advantage of the Danish player.

"From the start it was tight, Axelsen's defense was difficult to penetrate. I tried to attack first but it turned out to make him more comfortable, he has a higher range," said Ginting.

Knowing his initial strategy did not produce good results, the fourth seed then changed his rhythm to be slower and tried to attract Axelsen in his pattern of play.

However, this initiative also did not produce the desired expectation, Axelsen also dynamically changed his playing pattern by becoming more aggressive.

The Danish ranked first athlete's pressure made it difficult for Ginting to steal points in the first game.

"The range, attack, and accuracy are very good. I have to be more patient even though it's difficult, plus many balls are out and the wind conditions are not favorable," Ginting said.
