JAKARTA – Men's doubles badminton player Pramudya Kusumawardana admitted that he was nervous ahead of appearing at the Indonesia Masters 2022 which took place at Istora Senayan.

This Super 500 badminton championship will start on 7-12 June. This is the first time the 21-year-old badminton player has appeared at Istora.

As the first experience, Pramudya admitted that he was nervous. Moreover, this stadium is very famous for the atmosphere of the audience which is always boisterous.

"Maybe if you are nervous there will be a little bit, but I will try to control it," said Pram at a press conference that took place in Istora on Monday, June 6.

"Of course Istora is famous for its audience. Of course it is very good for us. Moreover, I am the host. So, I hope to give the best here," he said.

Pram and his partner Yeremia Erich Rambitan are one of seven Indonesian men's doubles who will appear in this tournament.

This pair comes with a pretty good stock after winning several tournaments before. One of them is the title of the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships in early May.

In addition, they also won a silver medal at the SEA Games Hanoi 2021. Despite having good capital, Pram admitted that he still started preparations from scratch for when he appeared at Istora later.

"When we get off the podium we start from zero again. Every opponent's match is different. So that's why you have to start all over again. Everything is the same opportunity. Back to the individual and later on the field," he said.

Besides Pramudya/Yeremia, six other Indonesian representatives who will appear at Istora are senior pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad, and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.

Then there are also junior doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi, Mohammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.

This is the first time Istora has held a badminton championship since the Indonesia Master 2020. Last year, this event together with the Indonesia Open had to be held in Bali due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
