Moto2 Italy 2022 Results: Sweet Birthday Gift, Pedro Acosta Successfully Wins First Podium

JAKARTA - KTM racer Pedro Acosta successfully won the first podium on the 2022 Italian Moto2 race day, Sunday 29 May afternoon WIB. This neat score is also a sweet gift for the 18-year-old racer who just celebrated his birthday on May 25.

This result was also Acosta's first win in the 2022 season. Success in being the fastest, Acosta's victory was also marked by serious drama from his two rivals.

Acosta, who is the 2021 Moto3 world champion, performed exceptionally at the Mugello Circuit. He came under pressure from Aron Canet and Celestino Vietti, but then managed to hold on to the position until the last lap.

Entering a tough competition with Canet with eight laps remaining, Acosta had a big advantage as his opponent fell past Turn 15. This moment allowed Acosta to lead by more than 1.5 seconds over Joe Roberts during the race.

Celestino Vietti also had bad luck, which became a gap for Acosta to take the lead. The leader of the Moto2 2022 standings experienced engine problems and was forced to fail to finish with three laps remaining in the race.

Acosta then finished the race with a best time of 39 minutes 35.930 seconds. This is Acosta's first victory and podium in the Moto2 class.

The second podium of Moto2 Italia 2022 went to Joe Roberts, while Ai Ogura was able to finish third while keeping him level with Vietti on 108 points at the top of the table. But the Japanese racer is in second place due to outnumbered wins this season.
