Canelo Confirms September Golovkin Trilogy Duel

JAKARTA - Canelo Alvarez has agreed a new fight for next September.

The doubts that arose after the defeat to Dmitry Bivol made one think that they would meet again this year in a rematch. However, it turned out not to be like that.

The Mexican has made it clear that he will fight Gennady Golovkin to complete their trilogy.

This means that the rematch against Bivol will have to wait a little longer. The reason is, in the next few days the fight against GGG will be inaugurated.

"Of course yes (against Golovkin), we've had that fight," Canelo said, commenting at a press conference quoted by Marca, Tuesday.

"We have to continue what we started and I think those are the two most important fights in boxing (the third against GGG and the rematch with Bivol)," he continued.

For Canelo, 'turning the page' is very important if he is to continue to show why he is called one of the best fighters of today.

"No one likes to lose, personally I am a very competitive person who takes risks to have greatness. I feel proud. As a man you have to admit when you lose, but we will do it again," added Canelo.
