Indonesian Singles Fall In Thailand Open 2022 Round Of 16, Akbar/Marsheilla Move Smoothly

JAKARTA - Three singles from Indonesia fell in the last 16 of the Thailand Open 2022, Thursday, May 19. However, Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Marsheilla Gischa Islami, managed to escape.

Akbar/Marsheilla became the first representatives of Indonesia to qualify after overthrowing the representatives of Denmark, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje. They won with a score of 21-17 and 21-13 within 26 minutes.

Meanwhile, Tommy Sugiarto had to stop in his tracks after losing to the Chinese representative, Li Shi Feng. Had won 22-20 in the first game, Tommy lost 13-21 and 18-21 in the next two games.

Besides Tommy, two Indonesian women's singles, Ruseli Hartawan and Fitriani, also fell.

Ruseli failed to advance to the quarter-finals after being beaten 15-21 and 14-21 from the world's top women's singles, Tai Tzu Ying.

Meanwhile, Fitriani also had to bury her hopes after losing to the Chinese representative, He Bing Jiao, with a score of 12-21 and 21-18.
