SEA Games Hanoi Men's Team Badminton Results 2021: Thailand Thwarts Indonesia In The Semifinals

JAKARTA - The Indonesian team failed to reach the final of the men's team badminton at the Hanoi 2021 SEA Games after a 2-3 defeat to Thailand on Tuesday, 17 May.

Two points for Indonesia were contributed by the men's doubles number. Meanwhile, the three men's singles given the trust failed to produce points for Merah Putih.

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo was beaten by Kunlavut Vitidsarn during the first match. He only played for 42 minutes after losing two straight games.

Indonesia then responded in the first men's doubles number, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Rambitan.

This pair changed the score to 1-1 after winning over the Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn/Nanthakarn Yordphaisong pair with the final score 21-16, 12-21, 21-16.

Unfortunately, Thailand again stole points in the third game. The White Elephant country won 2-1 after Sitthikom Thamsin's men's singles beat Christian Adinata.

Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Martin then evened the score to 2-2 in the fourth match. The pair won easily in two sets over Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul.

However, Bobby Setiabudi, who played in the last match, failed to score points for Indonesia. His defeat against Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul ensured that Indonesia only reached the semifinals.

Thailand will face Malaysia in the final match later. Malaysia came back from 0-2 down to beat Singapore and reach the final round.

Previously, the Indonesian badminton team had confirmed the final ticket for the women's team number. Putri Kusuma Wardani and friends got rid of the host Vietnam in the semifinals to face Thailand in the final match later.
